Consultation Services
Creating Inclusive, Neurodiversity-Affirming Systems
Neurodivergent individuals—including autistic people, individuals with ADHD, learning differences, and other cognitive variations—are part of every workplace, campus, and community agency. Yet many systems are unintentionally designed in ways that create barriers to access, engagement, and success.
Dr. Cleveland offers neurodiversity consultation services for employers, higher education institutions, non-profit agencies, and corporations to build environments that are more inclusive, accessible, and affirming. Dr. Cleveland has spent years working in academia as both a faculty member and a staff psychologist in a university counseling center. It is her passion to work with colleges and universities at all levels (faculty, administration, students and staff) to help build bridges where there are currently obstacles in serving and supporting neurodivergent faculty, staff, and students.
Her consultation work focuses on moving beyond compliance toward meaningful, sustainable change that benefits both individuals and organizations. Over the last decade, Dr. Cleveland has worked as an expert in accommodations for neurodivergent individuals in the workplace. She has a unique perspective and passion for how employers of any size can best provide support and retain neurodivergent employees.
A Neurodiversity-Affirming Framework
Dr. Cleveland’s neurodiversity-affirming consultation approach is flexible to meet the needs of the client.
Her neurodiversity-affirming approach focuses on proactive design, psychological safety, and human resource systems that support a wide range of cognitive styles.
Consultation is grounded in:
- Respect for neurodivergent identities and lived experience
- Evidence-based psychological and organizational principles
- Strengths-based, collaborative problem-solving
- Practical, scalable recommendations
The goal is to help organizations create environments where neurodivergent individuals can thrive without needing to mask or overcompensate.
Neurodiversity Consultation for Employers/Agencies/Corporations
Workplaces increasingly recognize the value of neurodivergent talent—yet many leaders are unsure how to translate good intentions into effective practices. Neurodiversity consultation helps employers build policies, cultures, and workflows that support productivity, retention, and well-being.
Services for employers may include:

- Support for neurodivergent managers supervising neurotypical employees
- Support for neurotypical employees to improve workplace relationships with neurodivergent employees
- Training on respectful language and interaction

- Recommendations for communication, feedback, and performance systems
- Burnout prevention and psychological safety initiatives
- Consultation on accommodations and accessibility
This work supports not only neurodivergent employees, but entire teams by improving clarity, flexibility, and engagement.
Consultation for Higher Education Institutions
Colleges and universities serve a growing population of neurodivergent students, faculty, and staff. Neurodiversity consultation supports institutions in creating learning and working environments that are accessible, affirming, and responsive.
Consultation for higher education may include:
- Faculty and staff training on neurodiversity-affirming practices
- Training for administrative staff in how to best support neurodivergent faculty/staff
- Guidance on supporting autistic and ADHD students beyond accommodations
- Review of policies, communication practices, and support services
- Consultation with disability services, counseling centers, and academic leadership
- Support for transition, retention, and burnout prevention initiatives
The focus is on systemic change that enhances access, increases retention and support, all while maintaining academic rigor and institutional values.
A Collaborative, Practical Consultation Process
Consultation is collaborative and tailored to each organization’s goals, structure, and context. The process emphasizes listening, partnership, and actionable recommendations rather than prescriptive or performative solutions.
Consultation may include:
- Trainings, workshops, or facilitated discussions
- Consultation regarding resolution for specific problematic employee relationship dynamics
- Written recommendations and implementation support
Whether supporting a single team or an entire organization, the focus remains on actionable and sustainable change.
Take the Next Step Toward Neurodiversity-Affirming Systems
Creating neurodiversity-affirming environments is not about lowering standards—it is about designing systems that allow more people to contribute fully and sustainably.
If your organization is ready to move beyond awareness toward meaningful inclusion, neurodiversity consultation can help you build environments where neurodivergent individuals—and the systems that support them—can thrive.
